From the Mersey to the Minster — Liverpool to York by Train

Each month we’ve started taking a midweek break, planned around my work schedule. For April’s trip, we headed to the historic city of York. As usual, we travelled by train. This time with TransPennine Express, on the 08:23 service from Liverpool. Our journey took us through Newton-le-Willows, Manchester Victoria, Huddersfield, and Leeds, before arriving in York, with the train continuing on to Newcastle.

It was a bright and sunny day, making for an enjoyable ride overall. That said, I’ve never been particularly fond of the Class 800 series, and the Nova 1 didn’t do much to change my opinion.
