Penrith Station Train Spotting | West Coast Main Line
We headed north to Penrith for a few days and, after spending time exploring the town, found ourselves at Penrith Station as the evening settled in. With some time to spare, we grabbed a seat on the platform and enjoyed watching the trains come and go.
In just 15 minutes we were treated to a small but varied parade of West Coast Main Line traffic. A northbound TransPennine Express service to Glasgow Central arrived at Platform 2, followed by a pair of Avanti West Coast Pendolinos – first a southbound service heading for London Euston from Platform 1, and then another northbound service to Glasgow Central calling at Platform 2.
Sometimes the best railway moments are the unplanned ones, and this quick evening stop at Penrith Station turned into the perfect chance to relax and enjoy the passing trains.
