One Hour, Two Cities: The Liverpool to Manchester Train Journey

We decided to spend a couple of days exploring Manchester — and of course, we took the train.
We hopped on a Northern service from Liverpool Lime Street, pulling into Manchester Piccadilly just under an hour later. Northern might not be the most glamorous rail operator out there, but for us, the train will always beat every other way to travel.

There’s something about arriving in a city by rail that just feels right — straight into the heart of things, no traffic, no parking, no stress. Manchester Piccadilly delivered us right where we needed to be.
Whether you’re planning a day trip or a longer stay, the Liverpool to Manchester train is an easy, affordable, and surprisingly enjoyable journey. We’d recommend it every time.
