Miami (MIA)

Miami International Airport (MIA) is located 8 miles west of Downtown Miami. It is an important hub for traffic between North America and Latin America. The predominant carrier at MIA is American Airlines, which has direct flights to most major cities in the Americas, and several European cities as well.


There is no Tri-Rail station at the airport but bus 133 connects the terminal with the local station which is 5 minutes away. The bus station at MIA is located on the Ground Level of Concourse E, directly across from Customs.

The Tri-Rail connects the airport with Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood Airport and Palm Beach. Weekday trains leave every 20-60 minutes, while they are every 2 hours on the weekend. The fare ranges from $2.00 – $9.25 depending upon distance traveled.

The Metro-Rail system can be accessed via the Allapattah station which can be reached with the 110 route J Metro-Bus. The Metro-Rail fare is $1.50 per trip.


The airport is served by a number of local bus routes. The bus station at MIA is located on the Ground Level of Concourse E, directly across from Customs. The fare is $1.50 per trip.


Taxis are only available on Arrival (ground) level outside of the baggage claim area.

The fees for metered fares are $4.50 for the first 1/6 mile, (includes the $2.00 airport origination fee) and $.40 each additional 1/6 mile, Waiting time is $.40 per minute. The trip to Downtown Miami or the Seaport is a flat rate of $24.00.


SuperShuttle vans are available upon request. Theyare located on the ground level of the terminal, outside the baggage claim area. Tickets can be purchased from the roadside desk. Rates are based on destination and the number of passengers. Residential addresses cost more than a hotel destination.

Car Rental

The airport is served by Alamo, Avis, Budget, Continental, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National, Royal, Thrifty and VIP.

Car pick up is located off airport property in various locations and is accessed by shuttle. Shuttles run regularly from the center median on the baggage claim level.
